Starting May 12, you will be asked to sign for your prescription medicine when you pick it up at the pharmacy. This is not new. You needed to sign for your medicine before the pandemic. This requirement was paused during the COVID-19 public health emergency.
Your pharmacist must ask you if you have any questions or concerns about your medicine. By signing your name, you are saying that you were asked this question.
Be sure to show your Highmark Health Options ID card when you pick up your prescription. You will be asked to show proof of identification if you are picking up certain kinds of drugs, such as controlled substances or narcotics.

Your caregiver will use this device to start and end every visit, whether at home or in the community. You may be asked to confirm if the caregiver was in your home at the end of the visit. EVV is free to both you and your provider. Using EVV will not change anything for you or the services you receive.

What is monkeypox? Monkeypox is usually a mild virus that causes a fever and bumpy rash. The rash tends to appear on the face before the body. Other symptoms include intense headache, chills, muscle aches, back pain, low energy, and swollen lymph nodes. If you have symptoms, contact your health care provider right away.
What if I have symptoms or have been diagnosed?
How does monkeypox spread? Monkeypox can spread between people by breathing in germs during long periods of close contact, by touching the infectious sores or bodily fluids of the sick person, or by touching objects like contaminated bedding or clothing.
How is monkeypox prevented and treated? Vaccines are given in a two-dose series, 28 days apart. The vaccine is not considered effective until two weeks after the second dose. People who have monkeypox can use antiviral medicine to help make symptoms less severe and stop the spread.
Who is at risk for monkeypox? People who have certain sexual practices are more likely to be exposed to monkeypox:
Who should be vaccinated? It is not necessary for everyone to get the monkeypox vaccination. People with HIV and those in the above risk groups will be eligible for the vaccination starting the week of Aug. 22. Call the DPH hotline at 1-866-408-1899 for more information. Another option is to register in advance for a monkeypox vaccination event. The event will be held Aug. 25 from 9 a.m.–3 p.m. at the Community Services Building located at 100 W. 10th Street in Wilmington. Only 200 time slots are available, so registration is required. Walk-ins will not be accepted. To register, call AIDS Delaware at 1-302-652-6776.
What else should I know? Monkeypox is much less contagious than COVID-19. Social distancing, handwashing, and sanitizing will help control its spread.

A national shortage of baby formula has many parents worried they won’t be able to feed their babies. More than 40% of top-selling formula brands are reportedly out of stock at stores around the country. The shortage is caused by pandemic supply issues and the recalls and shutdown of an Abbott Laboratories production plant in February. Parents of babies who rely on formula are anxious about the shortage. We urge families to contact their pediatricians with any questions or concerns.

The new Life Lines Drop In Center at the West End Neighborhood House is Delaware’s first youth resource center. Created for homeless young adults or youth leaving foster care between ages 18-23, it’s a place where young people can do their laundry, take a shower, and get a hot meal. They can also use the center’s address as their own mailing address, so they can list a residence on job applications and have a place to pick up their mail.

Join health care providers on Wednesday, May 4 from 6 p.m.–8 p.m. as they answer your questions and tell you how to help your baby sleep safely.
This event will be held at Harper’s Heart, located at 112 South French Street in Wilmington, Delaware. Onsite registration starts at 5:30 p.m. Space is limited to the first 30 people who register.
Parents will get a free child safety seat or crib for attending. Light snacks will be served. Lead screening will also be available.
Join us for Passport for Health sponsored by Nemours Children's Hospital. On Friday, Apr. 22 from 5 p.m.–7 p.m. the Kingswood Community Center in Wilmington will offer free health screenings for children age 18 and younger. A recall has been issued for certain Similac, Alimentum, and EleCare powdered infant formulas. You should stop using the products immediately. We recommend calling before returning to the store to ensure they have replacements in stock. Otherwise, information for a refund and replacement can be requested by calling Similac customer service at 1-800-986-8540. Reminder that those with EBT/SNAP benefits can use those to purchase formula if an exchange is not possible at this time.

The products under recall have a multidigit number on the bottom of the container starting with the first two digits 22 through 37, contains K8, SH, or Z2 and with an expiration date of April 1, 2022, or after. To find out if the product you have is included in this recall, visit similacrecall.com, and type in the code on the bottom of the package. No action is needed for previously consumed product.

You may already know that the U.S. is the only developed country in the world with a rising maternal mortality rate, but did you know that approximately 60% of maternal deaths are preventable?
Racial inequality contributes to that difference: Black women die during and after pregnancy at a rate three times higher than white women, and those who are American Indian and Alaska Native die at a rate two times higher than white women. The COVID-19 pandemic has also contributed to recent maternal mortality rates. The virus is associated with increased risk of severe complications — including death — during pregnancy.
